July 16th, 2023 was a remarkable day…14 stations, over 50 people…this was the day we outgrew our default location, no doubt about it.
Back to Rancho Potrero again, what a lovely day. We had some interference testing of solar controllers to vette equipment before ARRL Field Day in June, a visitor from far-off Gardena to see how µFD works, and a beautiful double rainbow ring around the sun. April KN6QQW got some very nice photos, especially considering that cell phones weren’t designed to take pictures of the sun. Kitt the malamute is becoming a regular.
µField Day, March 19 2023. Thunderbirds, Angels and Rain, oh my! Remember that lamp AI6YR used as a 15m antenna? Works pretty darned good on 12m too. In spite of the rain, we still had 7 HF stations set up and operating.
µField Day February 2023. The day after one of the county’s most epic storms in history, we met at Freedom Park at the Camarillo Airport. 30 people, 7 stations, and another RMOOTA triumph from AI6YR…the floor lamp antenna that was hitting Colorado on 15M. Worked great on 6M too. Check out the snow on South Mountain.
µField Day December 18, 2022 Thanks KI6BTY for awesome location! We had 16 stations set up that day…quite a turnout.
µField Day November, 2022. 30mph winds were less of a problem than we expected…no drama.

In April 2022, µField Day was sponsored by the new amateur radio club at Cal State Channel Islands. Kudos to Jason Miller, math professor and ham for his work in establishing this new club. A lot of people were exposed to ham radio at a lovely park on campus.
µField Day, February 2022 at Rancho Potrero. Theme for the day was Random Metal Objects On The Air (RMOOTA). KD6NFD made a QSO to Colorado using a cake tray on 20m, while Ben AI6YR rolled out the famous toaster oven…tuneable by sliding the crumb tray in and out.
