μExpo 2024 is in the books!

Thank you to everyone who was there…our first Micro Expo was a great success. We’re calling it the “Little Acorns” edition. We had a fantastic turnout from all of the Ventura County clubs, and visitors from many other counties.

Special thanks to our speakers, Stuart Sheldon AG6AG, Orv Beach Wb61, Mark Smith N6MTS and Steve Noll WA6EJO, as well as John Kitchens NS6X, the ARRL Santa Barbara Section manager who hosted the Section annual meeting at the event.

Keith has been sending out thank-you messages, and there are too many to list here, but everyone there was involved in some way, and it was fantastic. We were told often that an event based purely on hams getting together and sharing their interests wasn’t worked, and you all proved that it DOES work.

We’ve got to give special recognition to Jason Miller KM6PSZ, founder of the CSUCI Amateur Radio Special Interest group (a faculty club that is supporting the student club currently under construction) for all of his work in arranging the beautiful location at California State University Channel Islands. It takes a LOT more effort than people may realize to handle all of the details that Jason took care of, and the event was only possible because of his involvement.

Pictures? Pictures! Several people have already shared pictures and videos from the day, and we’ve figured out the best way to share them…there is no a BORED Net Youtube channel. Find it here, and be sure to SUBSCRIBE and hit those LIKE buttons.

Keith will be working out other ways to take advantage of the YT channel as time goes by of course.

And what about 2025? Keith, Zak, Ed and Jason are already planning it. We were working on it less than half an hour after the 2024 Expo finished…and it’s going to be great. We had so many ideas this year that just weren’t practical in a first effort, but the door is wide open now. If YOU have ideas, leave them in the comments or email Keith at keith@w6kme.org.

Keith is working out how to submit the K6E log to LOTW and the other online services, so hold tight…

Thank you again to EVERYONE who took part.
